Sheriff Ted G. Kamatchus
Sheriff Kamatchus began his law enforcement career in 1976. While attending Mankato State University (Criminal Justice Major), he worked as a Police Officer for the Waterville, Minnesota Police Department. In 1980 he joined the Marshalltown, Iowa Police Department. While on MPD, Ted served as the Park and Recreation liaison officer and Chief Firearms Instructor for the agency. On February 29th, 1988 he was appointed to complete the term of retired Sheriff Derald E. Gonzales. In November of 1988 he was elected to his first full term in office. Sheriff Kamatchus has successfully retained his position since that time having been elected to five consecutive terms in office.
Chief Jailer Steven W. Hoffman
Chief Jailer Steve Hoffman has served as a peace officer since 1991. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1994 as a deputy sheriff assigned to patrol. He has served in a number of roles including traffic safety officer; motorcycle officer and drug task force investigator among others. He has been an instructor in defensive tactics and striking instruments since 1997. He was appointed to serve as the agency’s third-in-command as Chief Jailer in July, 2005.
