Award winning nature program co-sponsored by MCCB and the Izaak Walton League for grades 1-5.

Uncle Ike's Nature ProgramThe Uncle Ike Nature Program began in Marshall County in 1983.  The program was adopted nationally by the Izaak Walton League and spread to other states.  The purpose of the program is to give children the opportunity to learn about our natural resources, environment, and outdoor sports.  Through many hands-on activities children explore nature!

The program has received the Chris Holt Youth Environmental Education Award.

Goal:

It is hoped the Uncle Ike participants will

1) Gain an increased awareness about the earth on which they live.

2) Learn to make responsible decisions concerning the environment.

Schedule:

This program runs from October through April on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.  The first and last sessions are held at the Izaak Walton League Grounds (two miles south of Iowa Ave on S 12th Ave/Smith Ave).  Summer includes a day camp held at the Izaak Walton League Grounds.
