Bear Grove Forest Area

2204 Hart Ave, State Center Located 6 miles north of Melbourne, Iowa and 3 miles west of LaMoille, Iowa.

Bear Grove (2).jpgThis 23 acre oak hickory forest is open to the public for wildlife view and hunting.  This area received its name due to the fact that person living at the site in the late 1800's reportedly kept a bear as a pet.  The locals all came to know the area as "Bear Grove."

 Activities:

· Wooded area with bur oak, hickory, and other upland species

· Hiking

· Hunting (state hunting rules and regulations apply)

· Bird watching and wildlife observation

· Mushrooming
