Court Debt Collection and Enforcement Agent

The office of the Marshall County Attorney is currently taking applications for a Court Debt and Enforcement Agent.

Major Functions:

  • Investigate and commit delinquent cases for collections utilizing multiple intelligence resources.
  • Effectively work a large collections caseload, review cases to determine delinquent balance and payment history; establish and implement plans of payment, prepare and process orders for wage assignment and wage garnishments.
  • Directly meet with defendants to provide summary of delinquent court debt and establish appropriate plan of payment.
  • Monitor established payment agreements for compliance and take appropriate enforcement action as required.
  • Investigate driver’s license status and determine appropriate action for reinstatement or restricted license.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with people of diverse socio-economic backgrounds and temperaments while demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience in investigative techniques and procedures.
  • Effectively work with local, state and federal agencies.
  • Ability to represent the Marshall County Attorney’s Office in a professional manner.
  • Ability to perform a high volume of work effectively without direct supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

Education, Experience Certifications and Licenses:

  • Prefer at least four years of experience in the criminal justice system and Associates degree or equivalent combination of experience and training. Preference given to Military service.
  • Must possess basic mathematical and accounting skills.
  • Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office.

Salary Range:

  • $30,000 to $40,000
